SHOPPING & SIGHTSEEING

We are so lucky to live where we do! For shoppers, we have a great range of local shops right on our doorstep, with Bath City Centre – a major shopping centre with all the “big names” – only 2 miles from The New Crown Inn. Bristol, another great mecca for shoppers, is only 12 miles away.

Bath is also, of course, one of THE great places to come for sightseeing, both in Bath itself and in the surrounding area and Southern England. For example, all that London has to offer is only 90 minutes away by train!

Please look further down this page for details of the shopping and sightseeing opportunities in and and around Bath and farther afield. First, shopping – locally, in Chelsea Road, which is on The New Crown Inn’s doorstep – and in Bath city centre.

Shopping in Chelsea Road

The New Crown Inn is at the top of Chelsea Road in the photo below. Chelsea Road boasts a supermarket, greengrocers, a cafe (which serves fantastic breakfasts and is right next door to the pub), an Indian restaurant, an Italian takeaway, a bakery, a delicatessen, estate agents, hardware shop, insurance agents, ladies’ and gents’ hairdressers and more…

Shopping in Bath and Bristol city centres

Both Bath and Bristol are great shopping centres in their own right, each offering a wide range of shopping experiences for all types of shopper.

Both cities have lots of major departments stores, such as Marks and Spencer and Debenhams. Both cities have also recently benefitted from the creation of modern new shopping developments, including the Southgate Centre in Bath, and Cabot Circus and Cribbs Causeway in Bristol.

Alongside the big stores, Bath and Bristol each have a vast variety of smaller shops for the most discerning shopper as well as the bargain hunter. All shoppers are truly spoiled for choice!

Bath and Bristol also have an equally impressive range of pubs, bars, coffee houses, cafes and restaurants, catering for all tastes and budgets.
